Update Stock Android 5.1 Lollipop on Xperia C4 and C5


Sony has rolled out unexpected Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Sony Xperia C4 and Xperia C5. The Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware for Xperia C4 and Xperia C5 contain security patches along multiple improvements including camera and over all user-interface and media. The update is rolling out via OTA and your device will be given an OTA update notification anytime soon. The Android 5.1 OTA update for Xperia C4/C5 is rolling out in batches and may take some time depending upon the region or carrier to which the device belongs.

Xperia C4: Build number 27.2.A.0.155

Xperia C5: Build number 29.1.A.0.87

How to update Xperia C4 and Xperia C5 to Stock Android 5.1 Lollipop

This is the first and preferably the most easiest method to update your device, you can use your device to download the firmware file if available and then the device will ask you to install the updates now or later. To check whether your device is eligible for OTA Firmware update, unlock your device & navigate to

Settings >> About device >> Software update >> Check for updates

This will require a working internet connection to connect to the Sony servers. You will receive a notification about the latest firmware availability click install to flash the firmware or tap install later to flash the latest update anytime later.

Note: The Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware for Xperia C4/C5 update link will soon be available as a FTF file and there you will be able to install it manually using firmware Sony Flashtool, this method would be helpful if you are not getting the OTA notification.
