Root LG Nexus 4 on Android 6.0 Marshmallow [AOSP ROM]


In this guide you will be able to root Nexus 4 running latest firmware Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Android Marshmallow is now available for LG Nexus 4 via ported custom ROM, you can follow this guide to update your device to Marshmallow ROM if you haven’t updated yet. The root process of LG G4 on Marshmallow is pretty simple all you need is a TWRP recovery (process to install TWRP on your device is mentioned below) to flash Marshmallow root kernel provided below. How to root LG Nexus 4 on Marshmallow Android 6.0

Before you Begin:

Please ensure your phone battery should be charged at minimum 60%.

Your device should have a working TWRP installed or download TWRP recovery from this link and install it using this guide.

Necessary downloads:

Download boot.img (modified file) for Nexus 4

Download SuperSU 2.51 beta

Process to root Android 6.0 Marshmallow on LG Nexus 4

Connect your device to your PC and copy the root file you downloaded above onto your device storage.

Turn of your device and boot into TWRP custom Recovery menu by the hardware keys combination or using any third party app (Mostly found in Play store).

Once your device enters into TWRP recovery, create a Nandroid backup of your device or follow our guide to create a Nandroid backup (this will create a backup of your complete device including current firmware) if something goes wrong you can restore your previous firmware.

Now it’s the time to flash the SuperSU root zip file on your device. Choose install and navigate to the folder where you have copied the file

Swipe across the slider to confirm install process, wait for a few seconds till the file is completely installed on your device.

Once done with the above process, reboot your device.
