Manually Install Android 5.1 Lollipop update on Verizon Moto X XT1060 (RSDLite Method)

Enable USB Debugging (Settings >> Developer Options >> USB debugging)

Your phone battery should be charged minimum 60%

Download these files:

Download RSDLite

Download Motorola USB drivers

Download Verizon Moto X XT1060 Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware

Process to Install Android 5.1 Lollipop update on Verizon Moto X XT1060

Extract the downloaded Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware folder.

Once extracted open it and find an XML file and click to open.

In the line of codes remove the “step operation = “getvar” var = “max-download-size” line in the XML file.

Now close the XML file and save the changes.

Turn off your device now and reboot it again by pressing and holding Power + Volume down key until you see fastboot mode.

Now connect your device to PC and run the RSDLite tool.

If RSDLite detects your device, device connected notification is seen on the RSDLite screen. (as shown)


In RSDLite click on the three-dot button and select the firmware file you edited earlier: the servicefile.xml or the flashfile.xml (this one is if you want to wipe the system of your phone – recommended for rooted devices).

Now click Start and wait for the installation process to complete.

    I did exactly defined, but in the end my sim card is not being supported by the same cellphone which was supporting it while on kitkat. I have unlocked bootloader. and now problem is that i did everything, but after the update, sim issue remains. please help.
