Install Android 6.0 Marshmallow on OnePlus One [AOSP]


Good news for the users of OnePlus One, Android 6.0 Marshmallow AOSP ROM has been released for OnePlus One. In this guide we are here at to help you install the latest firmware Android Marshmallow on your OnePlus One. We have already posted guide on the installation procedure of Android 6.0 Marshmallow on several devices including Nexus with both stock and the AOSP builds. AOSP Android 6.0 Marshmallow release rumors for OnePlus One were heard long ago and now its the day we are writing tutorial to flash the latest firmware.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow for OnePlus One is currently in the initial stages so you might notice some bugs but the upcoming updates will be bug free. So if you are getting impatient to see Android 6.0 M on your OnePlus One then this guide is for you. You can easily revert back to Stock firmware whenever you wish to do so, just go ahead and you will be guided through complete process to install Android 6.0 M on OnePlus One.

How to install Android 6.0 Marshmallow on OnePlus One

  • Please ensure your phone battery should be charged at minimum 80%
  • Download and install latest USB drivers
  • Your device should have a working CWM or TWRP recovery installed.

Download Google Apps for Marshmallow (Gapps)

Process to install Android 6.0 Marshmallow on OnePlus One

Connect your device to PC and transfer the ROM and Gapps zip files on the internal storage of OnePlus One.

Turn of your device and boot into CWM custom Recovery menu by the hardware keys combination or using any third party app (Mostly found in Play store).

Once your device enters into CWM recovery, create a Nandroid backup of your device or follow our guide to create a Nandroid backup (this will create a backup of your complete device including current firmware) if something goes wrong you can restore your previous firmware.

Once the Nandroid process completes, navigate and select wipe data/factory reset.(this will erase your data)

Now it’s the time to flash the Android 6.0 Marshmallow ROM on your device. Choose “install zip from sdcard” >> choose zip from sdcard & navigate to the folder in which you have copied the custom file and select it.

Select “yes” to confirm install, wait for a few minutes till the file is completely installed in your device.

Once done with the above step, now apply the same process with the installation of Android 6.0 Marshmallow gapps.

Wait for the installation process to complete. The first boot up may take 5-7 minutes.
