Samsung Galaxy devices can be updated to newer firmware by three different software update methods. You can follow any one of them you find easy but every firmware update process has some limitations and requirements. If you have installed custom recovery on your device it will be replaced by the Stock Recovery image and your device will become completely Stock after flashing the firmware. Below are the three firmware update methods you can follow to update your AT&T Galaxy S5 Active SM-G870A on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

How to update AT&T Galaxy S5 Active SM-G870A to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop via OTA (Over The Air) method

How does the link become available, where do you find it? I need to unbrick my S5 Active and can only do so with this version of the firmware. So I need to know if this will take days, weeks, or months to be released in order to decide whether I should replace the device or not.
