How to unlock bootloader of Motorola devices

How to unlock Bootloader of all Motorola devices

Just follow these simple steps to unlock bootloader of Motorola devices easily

Visit the Motorola website and sign up for the Motorola account or simply sign in using your Google Plus account.

You will be redirected to Unlock your Bootloader page, you need to read the important info regarding risk and process of unlocking bootloader of a Motorola device.

Just minimize the browser and now connect your device to PC using USB cable.

Open the adb-and-fastboot folder you extracted earlier.

Inside adb-and-fastboot folder, press SHIFT and Right-Click on an empty space inside the same folder.

Click on Open command prompt here and enter the following command to boot your device into bootloader mode.

“adb reboot bootloader”

You device will reboot to bootloader mode then type the following command in the command window.

“fastboot oem get_unlock_data”

The execution of above command will generate a string as you can see in the example below.

$ fastboot oem get_unlock_data
(bootloader) 0A40040192024205#4C4D3556313230
(bootloader) 30373731363031303332323239#BD00
(bootloader) 8A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F95

Now you need to copy the complete string line by line and don’t copy the bootloader text just the string of characters so that the new string looks like this,


Now get back to Unlock My device page on Motorola website and paste the string inside the box with the blue button saying Can my device be unlocked and then click it.

If your device is unlockable, a REQUEST UNLOCK KEY button will appear at the bottom, click the button and this will send you an unlock key for your device.

Now you need to check your gmail inbox, an unlock key will be sent you by Motorola. Now copy the unlock key and paste it in the adb-and-fastboot folder.

Now type the following command on your PC using the same procedure you used above. This time type,

fastboot oem unlock “paste the unlock key here”

Now you need to confirm the bootloader unlock and your device will be reboot automatically.
