How to root Android 7.1.1 Nougat on Nexus devices [NMF26F/NMF26O]

Finally Google has started the regular Android 7.1.1 Nougat release for it’s compatible Nexus devices including Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Pixel C, Google Pixel and Pixel XL. This is the first regular Nougat update apart from the Developer Preview program. The Nexus devices receives these updates with build number NMF26F on Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X. While Google Pixel and Pixel XL received the build number NMF26O and the Pixel C with NMF26H. Enable USB Debugging (Settings >> Developer Options >> USB debugging)

Your phone battery should be charged minimum 60%

Your device bootloader should be unlocked or Click Here (Follow this guide as bootloader unlock process is same for every Nexus device)

Download these files:

Download Nexus USB drivers.

Download and Extract adb fastboot.

Download SuperSU v2.78

Process to root Android 7.1.1 Nougat NMF26F/NMF26O on Nexus devices

 

Just follow the below steps in sequence to obtain root access on your Nexus devices running NMF26F/NMF26O Nougat firmware.

Connect your device to your PC

Copy the SuperSU.zip on the internal memory of your Nexus device

Turn off your device and enter into Recovery mode by using hardware key combination or by typing the following command.

         ” adb reboot recovery “

Once your device reboot into TWRP recovery mode, hit Install

Select the SuperSU.zip file and swipe the slider to start flashing.

Once the installation process is complete, select Reboot.
