Google removed the Quick Reply feature from lock screen in Android 7.0 Nougat Developer Preview 5

Google released it’s 5th Developer Preview of Android 7.0 Nougat a few days back, the overall firmware have nothing looks change except on observing deeply we have found the DP5 has missing a most common but most important feature inside it. The Quick reply feature from the lock screen is missing now that was previously present in Developer Preview 4. The Quick reply feature lets you reply the messages directly from the lock screen without even unlocking it, this feature is very important if you have set a screen pattern lock or finger print scanner you don’t need to perform an extra effort for unlocking just tap and type the reply that’s it.

If you are on DP4 then you can simply reach this feature by going to Setting >> Notifications >> Configure Notification and then tap on Lock screen you will have 3 options with radio button and a check box with a text mentioned “If device is locked, prevent typing replies or other text in notifications”, now if you to want to keep the lock screen notifications enabled just let the box remain unchecked otherwise it’s on your own. But if you have updated your device on DP5 the 4th option with check box is no more there, and that’s what we are discussing over here in this post.

The Quick rep feature allows you to quick rep every messaging app like Whatsapp, Facebook or other, the reason for removing the quick reply option is still unknown may be Google want the feedback from the users about the feature or it is just for security, well we wish that Google will bring it back in the upcoming updates.

You can visit the Android Issue Tracker page and give your feedback, the more user will star the issue the more chances to get the feature back in the next update. Give us your feedback.
