Enable Tethering on Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Tethering allows you to share your WiFi or Mobile data with friends and family in which your device acts like a hotspot. If you have updated your device to Android 6.0 Marshmallow probably a Nexus device right now, then you can easily enable tethering on your device running Android 6.0 M by typing simple adb commands.

Enable USB Debugging (Settings >> Developer Options >> USB debugging)

Your phone battery should be charged minimum 60%

Download these files:

Download USB drivers.

Download and Extract adb fastboot.


Process to enable tethering on Android 6.0 Marshmallow

Just follow the below simple steps in sequence to enable tethering on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Connect your device to the PC using USB cable.

Open Command window on your PC and type,


“adb shell”



Then type the following command to enable tethering on your device

“settings put global tether_dun_required 0”


Wait for the process to complete and it will give a reboot to the device.
