    TWRP is a custom recovery that you need to install on your device in order to flash custom ROMs or other recovery flashable .zip files. If you want to flash custom ROMs on your device then first you need to flash TWRP recovery on your device, the whole process is mentioned in the tutorial.

    If you can easily install Marshmallow ROM on your Unite 2 then it should also install stock firmware or other ROMs, check the downloaded ROM or re-download it using other links.

    Yes the OTA updates are landed in USA for the AT&T carrier, you will not able to receive the notification as along as you are outside US. But i m wondering why the manual recovery process didn’t work for you? What did it say?

    You can easily update your device firmware by following the manual update process using Odin, the Odin process is useful in your case if the device is unlocked or rooted
